Business Resource Registry Overview
 

The Business Resource Registry is chartered to:

  • Create an inventory of private sector resources, equipment and expertise in Iowa.
  • Outline the terms under which these resources may be made available.
  • Develop policies for businesses to work jointly with public agencies.
  • Recruit private-sector resource owners to register resources which they are willing to make available to support public emergency response and recovery efforts.

Definitions:

Private sector – Privately owned and operated (non-government) businesses and organizations with resources that have been made available for disaster response and recovery. 

Public sector – Agencies and organizations that are operated by the local, state or federal government.  

Resource – Any goods or services that can be used to respond and/or recover from a disaster affecting the public. 

Resource owner – The individual with the authority to authorize deployment of a resource for disaster response or recovery purposes.  

Disaster – Any natural or man-made event that produces harm, or imminent danger to the general public.  

Responsibilities:

Resource Registry Administrator – Each Administrator has full read/write access to the database. The Resource Registry Administrator is responsible for the overall functionality and integrity of the resource registry database and for configuring all user accounts.  

Resource Data Clerk – Each Resource Data Clerk has full read access and limited write access as defined by the Resource Registry Administrator for specific projects. Resource Data Clerks are responsible for general database maintenance as assigned by the Resource Registry Administrator. 

Emergency Response Personnel – All Emergency Management Personnel have read only access to all registered resources. A user account is required for access to the database and can be obtained from the Resource Registry Administrator.  

Resource Owner – Resource owners do not have direct access to the database; this is to ensure the data remains confidential. Resource owners are responsible for validating their resource data and for notifying the Resource Registry Administrator of any data corrections or revisions. Resource owners may also contact the Resource Registry Administrator at any time to review or modify their registered data.
