2010 Disaster Resources:

The National Weather Service is predicting a high risk of significant flooding in many areas across the state. To prepare for the flooding Safeguard Iowa Partnership has identified a number of resources to assist in preparation of the floods.

2009 Disaster Resources:

The recent novel influenza A - commonly referred to as the H1N1 virus - outbreak demonstrated how rapidly a new strain of flu can emerge and spread around the world. The sudden outbreak of the H1N1 virus has tested the world's public health system preparedness. Safeguard Iowa Partnership continues to work with local, state and federal officials to gather information and resources for the business community.

 

A free Influenza Hotline has been established to answer your questions about seasonal flu and novel influenza A (H1N1). The hotline number is 1-800-447-1985.

 

The Iowa Department of Public Health, Upper Midwest Center for Public Health Preparedness and the Safeguard Iowa Partnership provided a free webcast about guidelines for businesses regarding infectious diseases and protecting the workforce. 2008 Archive Resources:

Iowa was struck by a series of disasters that created the  most costly and challenging situation in the state's history. During the period of May, June and July 2008, Iowa was struck by deadly tornadoes, record flooding and devastating straight-line winds. Safeguard Iowa Partnership staff and partners worked hundreds of hours to assisst in coordinating emergency response and recovery throughout Iowa.

 

Safeguard Iowa Partnership distributed weekly business recovery status reports beginning July 11, 2008. The reports include information about government and business/trade association resources, programs and events.

The risk of flooding is much above normal at most locations. The risk is highest in the Des Moines, Raccoon, Iowa and Cedar River
